Our Behavioural Therapists and counsellors have worked hands on for more than 10 years with children on the spectrum. They used ABA and play therapy techniques at schools and childcares. Some have been working closely with children and their parents and they incorporate the educators and therapists, so they can all work together to deal with any issues at hand.
Treatment involves teaching children different methods of responding to situations more positively.
A central part of this therapy is rewarding positive behaviour and adjusting negative behaviour. Parents must help to reinforce this in the child’s day-to-day life.
It may take children some time to trust their counsellor. They’ll eventually warm up to them if they feel they can express themselves without consequences.
Children with autism and ADHD often benefit from behavioural therapy.
